Letter from Ray Rogers to Provincial Fr. Ronald Mercier and Members of LOYNO's Board of Trustees

August 27, 2014

To: Provincial Fr. Ronald Mercier and Members of LOYNO's Board of Trustees

Please find attached a report, "Has LOYNO's Catholic-Jesuit Mission Gone Awry? The Sharron Mangum Case." This report should be of particular concern to Jesuits USA Central and Southern Province and each LOYNO trustee. Hopefully the Board and Province will investigate and take appropriate action to rectify a grave injustice perpetrated against former employee and Executive Assistant to the Dean of the College of Social Sciences, Sharron Mangum.

From 2010-2014, Ms. Mangum found her appeals to President Kevin Wildes and other superiors for compassion, fair treatment and justice went unheeded, time after time. As the clearly discriminatory and willfully negligent treatment of Ms. Mangum continued unabated, it took a serious toll on her emotional and physical health and well-being. Finally she felt it necessary to send Rev. Wildes a Notice of Constructive Termination on June 9, 2014. Even then, mistreatment against her did not end.

Subsequently, aware of other injustices at LOYNO and what seemed to Ms. Mangum a formidable fight for an employee with no labor union to protect her against the abuses of a large corporation, she sought the help of my organization, Corporate Campaign, Inc. Ms. Mangum is seeking a measure of justice for herself and to prevent other employees at LOYNO from facing the same uncaring attitude and abuse she suffered.

We want to give Provincial Fr. Ronald Mercier and LOYNO's trustees an opportunity to resolve this matter before we take further action and begin, soon after Labor Day, to campaign publicly around this issue.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. Should you leave a phone message, I will get back to you promptly.

Best Regards,

Ray Rogers
